Frequently Asked Questions – FAQ

Is canyoning at Grosdar suitable for children?

Yes, the Grosdar Canyoning tour is suitable for children aged 6 and over.

I’m not very sporty – can I still take part?

Yes, the Grosdar canyoning descent is suitable for those who are not particularly fit. However, you must be able to walk in the mountains for three hours. Of all our canyoning trips in the Jura, this is the most accessible.

I’m very sporty – will I get bored?

No, the descent through the Grosdar Canyon is very flexible and offers something for everyone. However, if you’re looking for a more challenging canyoning trip, you can opt for the descent through the Coiserette Canyon.

How long should I allow for this?

Allow 3 hours for the activity.

Where is the Grosdar canyoning site?

The Grosdar Canyon is located in Saint-Claude, in the Jura, 40 minutes from Clairvaux-les-Lacs, Champagnole and the resort of Les Rousses. It’s about an hour’s drive from Geneva or the Pays de Gex.

What is the difference between the Grosdar Canyon and the Grosdar Intégral?

The “classic” Grosdar Canyon refers to the middle section of the canyon. This descent, which takes around three hours, is fun and accessible. It consists mainly of jumps (which are always optional), natural slides and sections where you have to swim.

The Grosdar Intégral, on the other hand, is a much longer and more technical day-long descent aimed at experienced riders seeking a more challenging and comprehensive experience. It includes:

  • the upper section, including the abseil down the Queue de Cheval waterfall (70 m),
  • the fun middle section of the classic course,
  • the lower section, featuring the Queue d’Âne waterfall (30 m).

Is it compulsory to know how to swim?

Yes! Swimming sessions are compulsory. If you can’t swim, we can suggest other activities.

Are the jumps and slides compulsory?

No! Your guide will never force you to do anything. Alternatives will be suggested depending on each participant’s ability.

I wear glasses – can I take part?

Of course! Make sure you bring a cord. Your guide will explain how to keep them from getting lost or damaged. Ideally, bring an old pair. Better still, wear contact lenses if you can.

What if the weather is bad?

The guide may change the itinerary. If the activity cannot go ahead, we will reschedule it for another day. If this is not possible, we will cancel it. In that case, you will receive a full refund.
